Carlos Warter, with Chris McCann, proposes that the silence from the sky is a verdict on the method, not on the universe. Life elsewhere in the cosmos may be exactly what we have imagined, and may yet be found by the instruments already pointed at it. The argument here is that a second kind of intelligence is also present, moving through frequencies and dimensions that intersect human reality continuously. The equipment capable of registering that one is the equipment you were born with.
Drawing on quantum mechanics, Indigenous cosmologies, the neuroscience of altered states, five decades of Carlos Warter's clinical practice, and the years he worked with his close friend the Harvard psychiatrist John Mack, the authors map the human nervous system as the primary instrument of contact. Carlos Warter, MD, PhD
Physician · Author of more than 20 books
A pioneer in spiritual regenerative psychiatry, integrative medicine, and psychedelic therapy since the 1970s. He trained in residency at Harvard Medical School and founded the World Health Foundation for Development and Peace. He is an experiencer himself, which is how the clinical work started. Five decades of it produced his own method, including the regression technique he calls reverse hypnosis.
He trained at Harvard in 1971 and met John Mack roughly two decades later, through the work rather than the institution. That method, built with people who had no vocabulary for what happened to them, is the spine of this book. He lives in Southern California.

- Why hasn't SETI heard anything? We have listened since 1960 with an instrument built to catch intelligence that travels and broadcasts. The silence is real and the instrument is fine. The argument here is that the assumption underneath it is too narrow.

- What if alien abduction isn't trauma? People arrive terrified and the memory gets filed as an assault. Carlos built a method for revisiting it without the fear, and what surfaces is usually a different event than the one they walked in with.
- Harvard investigated a psychiatrist for believing his patients. What happened to John Mack in 1994, and how it actually ended. Carlos on doing the same work alongside his friend, with no institution to lose.
- Psilocybin is about to be legal. Is anyone ready? Fifty years with entheogens, and twelve of them deliberately without. Carlos on the part the current enthusiasm keeps skipping, which is what happens after the session ends.
- The files are opening and nobody is moving. Records keep being released and hearings keep happening. Public attention has not followed, and the book argues that disclosure about craft does not answer the question most people are actually asking.
- What does it cost to stay quiet? Most experiencers say nothing for decades because they expect honesty to be too expensive. What that silence does to a person, and what usually happens when they finally speak.

What is a supraterrestrial?
A supraterrestrial is an intelligence that moves through frequencies and dimensions rather than across distance. The idea sits alongside the search for space-faring life rather than replacing it. Warter and McCann take that search as entirely plausible, and argue a second category exists too: presences that intersect human reality continuously and register in a nervous system rather than on radar.
How is this different from a UFO book?
UFO literature is organized around evidence: footage, radar returns, what governments will admit. This book is organized around capacity. It argues disclosure would settle less than people expect, and spends its pages on what happens inside a person who has an encounter, drawn from Carlos Warter's clinical case studies.
Why has SETI never found a signal?
SETI has searched since 1960 and confirmed nothing. The search has widened well past radio, into biosignatures, atmospheric chemistry, and the conditions that let life begin. That is real progress. Every one of those methods still looks for life that travels or leaves a trace. The instrument is sound. Its range is narrower than the question being asked.
Who was John Mack, and why does he matter here?
John Mack was a Pulitzer Prize-winning Harvard psychiatrist who documented hundreds of experiencer accounts in the 1990s. Harvard investigated him for taking them seriously, then closed the inquiry without sanction, and he stayed a tenured faculty member in good standing. He and Carlos Warter were close friends who worked together on this material for years.
Do you need psychedelics to practice what the book teaches?
No. The practices are breathwork, somatic discernment, and integration, and none of them require a substance. Five decades of Carlos Warter's clinical work with entheogens, psilocybin, and other non-ordinary states shaped what the book teaches. The book still asks nothing of you chemically and gives no protocol for use.
When is Supraterrestrials published, and can I preorder?

Why call them supraterrestrials and not aliens?
Alien and extraterrestrial already carry stories: invasion, or a home planet somewhere. This book uses both for orientation instead. Alien names the disposition that takes. Extraterrestrial names the one that gives. Supraterrestrial names neither, and points at the field both are oriented toward.

Both authors write in public. Carlos has been teaching this material for five decades. Chris is working out in the open what it cost him to stay quiet about it. Book material shows up in both places first.
